As anyone who still has their Pokemon Go! app will tell you, trends come and go but classics last forever. And while it’s always fun to try new things that bring new perspectives, shake up routines and expand horizons, there’s something about the classics that give our souls the comfort we crave. After all, there’s a reason that “The Classics” are, well, classic. It’s the way the elements blend together and perfectly compliment one another to create delightfully visceral experiences. It’s the dependability we can rely on when ordering up our go-to favorites. And most importantly, it’s the milestones and moments the classics aid along the way.
So, the next time you’re in need of a frosty beverage to wet your whistle, look no further than these four classics that have withstood the test of time.
1. The Mojito
Ingredients:
- 1/2 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1 tsp super fine sugar
- 3 mint leaves
- 2 oz white rum
- Club soda
Instructions: In a Collins glass, muddle the lime juice with 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of sugar. Add the mint leaves and mash against the side of the glass. Fill glass 2/3 full with cracked ice and pour in the rum. Squeeze in a lime and then throw in the squeezed-out lime shell. Top off with club soda.
2. The Pina Colada
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 oz rum
- 3 oz pineapple juice
- 1 oz coconut cream
Instructions: Combine the ingredients in a blender and blend on high with a cup of crushed ice. Pour into a Collins glass and garnish with a cherry, an orange slice, a pineapple slice, or all of the above.
3. The Long Island Iced Tea
Ingredients:
- 1/2 oz white rum
- 1/2 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz tequila
- 1/2 oz orange liqueur
- 1/2 oz gin
- 3/4 oz lemon juice
- 1 oz simple syrup
Instructions: Pour everything into a tall glass of ice and add a splash of cola!
4. The Classic Margarita
Ingredients:
- 2 oz silver tequila
- 1 oz Cointreau
- 1 oz lime juice
Instructions: Chill a cocktail glass and then rub it’s rim with lime juice and dip in coarse salt. Combine the tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice together in a cocktail shaker and shake. Strain into the glass over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
