Current quarantine mood: work from home and home workouts by day, Netflix and chill by night. And what’s a binge watch without some sweet and savory snackage?
Snacking is great … just remember to stock up on options that won’t leave you crashing later. With that in mind, here are some snack ideas to keep you feelin’ yourself all quarantine long.
1. Country Archer Beef Jerky & Meat Sticks
Craving savory, salty, and a little sweet all at once? Jerky is where it’s at.
Unfortunately, a lot of jerky is as shady as the stuff from Joe Exotic’s meat truck. (Not familiar with it? Check out Tiger King for all the cringey details.)
So if you want to eat better than tigers in the world’s sketchiest zoo, do yourself a favor and choose jerky with real food ingredients. Shameless self-promotion time (you knew this was coming): Country Archer jerky is always made with grass-fed beef, antibiotic-free turkey, and real ingredients you can actually pronounce. Because you, friend, are a classy, quarantined tiger who deserves the best.
2. Better-for-You Ice Cream
Trainwrecks like Love Is Blind practically demand ice cream. And if you’re going to be stuck in your house this long, you deserve some comfort food.
You can still avoid the sugar bomb, though. We love Nom Nom Paleo’s easy strawberry banana ice cream recipe (no ice cream maker required). For a store-bought option, Rebel Ice Cream is our jam. It’s keto-friendly and made without junky artificial sweeteners.
3. Dang Coconut Chips
Dang as in, “Dang, Ozark is intense!” Haven’t seen this Netflix show yet? Binge it tonight. You’ll thank us.
Also dang as in Dang’s toasted coconut chips. They’ll satisfy your crunch craving and have paleo and keto-friendly options. Paleo salted caramel? Yes, please.
4. Homemade Trail Mix
Quarantined with kids? Roll a snack, activity, and homeschool lesson into one with DIY trail mix. Lay out nuts, pumpkin seeds, dried fruit, dark chocolate chips — whatever your tiny humans will love. Let them make their own bowls, and sneak in a lesson about fractions using measuring cups and spoons.
Healthy snacks and hands-on lessons? You’re parent-of-the-year material. Congratulate yourself with a well-deserved Schitt’s Creek marathon while your kids watch Disney+.
5. Stovetop Popcorn
For those who scroll through Netflix forever only to end up rewatching The Office, how about another classic: good old popcorn. It’s your OG healthy movie snack — avoid the microwavable kind though, with its sometimes shady ingredients.
Pop kernels on your stove in coconut oil or grass-fed butter, and you’ll avoid the chemical weirdness.
Your shows may be guilty pleasures (no judgment), but your snacks don’t have to be. Need more inspo? Here are more of our favorite low-sugar snacks.
If you’re avoiding the grocery stores because #socialdistancing, snag our jerky here on our site or on Amazon. Happy streaming, all you cool cats and kittens.
