Eugene Kang, Under 30 Class of 2019
Eugene Kang first discovered jerky being sold by a butcher at a roadside stand on a trip to the Grand Canyon. Kang left college to found Country Archer Provisions in 2011 and spent a year apprenticing with an artisan butcher to perfect the art of jerky making. The company raised around $30 million to date, including $12 million secured in February 2020. Country Archer now sources some of its beef from a 6,500-acre farm in Northern California, which due to pandemic supply chain backups couldn’t secure time at its slaughterhouse, and is sold in 25,000 stores across the U.S., including Starbucks and Walmart.
