Brunch: it’s not just for the bougie. Because honestly, who isn’t down for an excuse for bacon and a.m. cocktails?
The GOAT of all brunch cocktails? The loaded Bloody Mary. We’re breaking down the spicy-boozy-tomatoey goodness, so you can fix it up your way and be your own bartender
Let’s brunch with a Country Archer twist.
1. The Base
People have really strong opinions about what makes a good Bloody Mary. So make it your way! This mix will give you a solid base, and you can tweak the spices and sauces to taste.
Makes 6 servings.
-
6 cups tomato juice
-
2 TB creamy horseradish (go for 3 if you like the kick)
-
2 TB Worcheshire sauce
-
1 TB hot sauce (we like Siete)
-
Juice from 1 large lemon
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
2 tsp celery salt
-
1 tsp garlic salt
2. The Vodka
Pretty self-explanatory, right? You can get extra fancy if you want with pickle or jalapeño-infused versions, but plain vodka does the trick.
-
About 12 oz. total, or 2 oz. per individual serving
3. The Rim
For a true pinkies-up brunch, you’ve gotta salt those rims. Classic celery salt is always a safe bet, but you can add in paprika, cumin, cajun seasoning, garlic salt...you get the idea. You could even go really wild and line your glass with your favorite hot sauce instead of lemon and limes for the salt rim.
-
Lemon or lime wedges
-
1 T Kosher Salt
-
1 T Celery salt
-
Hot sauce, if ya dare
4. The Garnish
It’s basically noon. The French toast is taking forever. And you’re real hangry. This is when garnishes are the MVP.
Yep, the best Bloody Mary can double as a meal, so don’t skimp here. Make sure to include a few protein-based options to tide you over until actual brunch begins. Here are some ideas to load up those skewers:
-
Country Archer Beef Jerky pieces
-
Country Archer Beef Mini Sticks
-
Celery
-
Grilled or pickled asparagus
-
Dill pickle spears
-
Cheese cubes
-
Olives
-
Jalapeños
-
Pickled Veggies (think okra, green beans, cauliflower, you name it)
-
Pork Ribs
-
Bacon
-
Shrimp
-
Oysters
If you’ll allow us a shameless plug, our jalapeño and original mini beef sticks were practically made for this. And because they’re made with grass-fed beef and real ingredients, they won’t kill your healthy brunch vibes with nitrates and artificial preservatives.
5. The Assembly
Here’s where the magic happens.
-
Combine your base ingredients and whisk/shake/blend (whatever you prefer) until mixed. Refrigerate until chilled.
-
Wet rims of 8 oz. glasses with lemon/lime wedges and dip in the rim salt.
-
Fill glasses with ice and 2 oz. of vodka.
-
Pour the base mix over the ice and vodka, and stir with a celery or beef stick.
-
Grab your skewers and load those babies up!
